Tories' First Ads...

...are here. They're fairly standard fare focusing on the key messages from the last week (crime, accountability, taxes).

Thoughts?

I wish Harper was smiling in them, but other than that, they're OK

Looking at the camera (occasionally) would have helped too (or adjusting the camera angle).

As Mr. Horse might say, "well sir, I don't like it."

"Ok" isn't good enough. The Saskatchewan Roughriders are an ok football team. Everything that is for the consumption of the general public should be brilliant.

The signs at the end of the commercials remind me of the Librano sign generator. It looks like blogs are contributing to the CPC campaign.

Could have been better, but they do the job. Now let's just hope that the reason these are merely OK is that they're saving the real dynamite for the post-Xmas part of the campaign, when people will actually be paying attention.

The crime one in particular will resonate with many Canadians. There is absolutely no excuse for Paul Martin's Liberals on this issue. They had years to correct the sick sick sick sentencing laws in this country that allow dangerous murderers, rapists, and child molesters to go free early. The opposition even served them up many pieces of draft legislation on a plate. Liberals voted against tougher sentencing on those matters.

I'm glad Haper, at least, understands where Canadians are coming from on that issue.
